  4. Country Description:  Luxembourg is a highly developed stable democracy with
  5. a modern economy.  Tourist facilities are widely available.

  7. Entry requirements:  A visa is not required for tourist or business stays of
  8. up to three months.  For further information concerning entry requirements
  9. for Luxembourg, travelers can contact the Embassy of Luxembourg at 2200
  10. Massachusetts Avenue N.W., Washington, D.C. 20008, Tel. (202) 265-5525, or
  11. the Luxembourg Consulate General in New York.  Luxembourg also has Honorary
  12. Consuls in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Atlanta, Chicago, Kansas City,
  13. New Orleans, Boston, Detroit, St. Paul, Middletown and Youngstown, Ohio;
  14. Pittsburgh, and Seattle.

  16. Medical Facilities: Medical facilities are widely available.  U.S. medical
  17. insurance is not always valid outside the United States.  Travelers have
  18. found that in some cases, supplemental medical insurance with specific
  19. overseas coverage has proved to be useful.  Information on specific health
  20. matters is available through the Centers for Disease Control's international
  21. travelers  hotline at (404) 332-4559.

  23. Crime Information: Luxembourg has a low crime rate.  However, during the
  24. tourist season, pickpocketing, theft of unattended baggage, and theft from
  25. vehicles can occur.  U.S. citizens can refer to the Department of State's
  26. pamphlet, "A Safe Trip Abroad" for ways to promote a more trouble free
  27. voyage.  The pamphlet is available from the Superintendent of Documents,
  28. U.S. Government Printing Office,  Washington,D.C. 20402.

  30. Drug Penalties: Penalties for possession, use, and dealing in illegal drugs
  31. are strict, and convicted offenders can expect jail sentences and fines.

  33. Registration: Americans who reside in the consular district of Luxembourg
  34. can register with the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy.  The section has
  35. available updated information on travel and security within the area.
